FO-8 TRANSMISSION OF LASER BEAM THROUGH AN OPTICAL

DESCRIPTION
•  The aim of the experiment is to study various types of losses that occur in optical fibers and measure the loss in dB of optical fiber patchcords individually and also connected in tandem using an in-line adapter.

In this experiment we will be studying the losses due to core differences and losses due to core mismatches. Loss as a function of length is not possible because the lengths under consideration are too small. Loss as a function of wavelength is not possible; as we have only one source. The patchcords designated for the experiments are as follows:
Cable
2-meter PMMA SI/MM (BLACK Jacket)
Cable
2-meter 100/140 GI/MM (GREEN Jacket)
Cable
2-meter 62.5/125 GI/MM (GRAY Jacket)
• The experiment may be repeated for other patch cords if available.
